| About Event | World Calamity Control Day also known as the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction aims to make our habitat – rural and urban – safe from calamities, which can displace and kill millions of people. Whether it is a natural hazard or a man-made disaster, the level of preparedness of disaster management bodies saves lives. International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction began in 1989, after a call by the United Nations General Assembly for a day to promote a global culture of risk-awareness and disaster reduction. Held every 13 October, the day celebrates how people and communities around the world are reducing their exposure to disasters and raising awareness about the importance of reining in the risks that they face. (Source- https://www.unisdr.org/disasterreductionday ) The main objective of this event is to spread awareness among students for the disaster and its management. Students will be addressed through film screening and discussion on the relevant factors. | |||||||||||||
