I am glad to be a part of the school of nursing at Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University. The university has an appropriate environment for study. The faculties in the university are very helpful and supporting. They support students to adjust in the new environment of the university, along with modern infrastructure to support research activities.

Pallavi Singh
B.Sc. Nursing

Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University is like a second home for me because it has a homely environment, and along with it the faculties and students are friendly and helpful. This university helps to develop your inner skills and is not only known for its academics but also for its extracurricular activities. DBUU gives you a new experience every day.

Bushra Rashid
B.Sc. Nursing

One of the best things that interests me the most about being a DBUUian is that we are not bound in the classrooms. Instead, every other day, we have extracurricular activities and vocational education. The staff members of DBUU are very supportive and helpful. In this university, the more I study for my goals, the more I feel that nothing in the universe is out of reach.

FAQ’S

No. Nursing is open to all genders. While it has traditionally seen more female students, the field now actively welcomes male nurses as well.

NEET is not mandatory for most nursing courses. Admissions are usually based on 12th marks or university-level criteria, depending on the institution. At Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University (DBUU), admission to nursing programs like B.Sc. in Nursing and GNM is based purely on 12th-grade marks (with PCB subjects).

To pursue nursing after 12th, students (preferably from a PCB background) can apply for courses like B.Sc. Nursing and GNM. Admission is typically based on 12th-grade marks, and NEET is not required. At universities like Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University (DBUU), students can get direct admission based on merit. After completing the course, practical training and registration with the State Nursing Council are required to start a professional nursing career.

B.Sc. Nursing is generally considered better than GNM in terms of career growth, salary, and opportunities. B.Sc. is a 4-year degree program that offers deeper theoretical and practical knowledge, making graduates eligible for higher positions, government jobs, and postgraduate studies. GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) is a 3-year diploma, suitable for those looking for a quicker entry into the workforce, but it may offer limited career advancement compared to a degree. For long-term growth and specialization, B.Sc. Nursing is a better choice.

Graduates can work as:

  • Registered Nurses (RNs) in hospitals and clinics
  • Nursing Officers in government jobs
  • Community Health Nurses
  • ICU/OT Nurses
  • Nursing educators, supervisors, or researchers
  • They can also pursue M.Sc. Nursing or appear for competitive exams like AIIMS, ESIC, or state PSCs.

Yes, DBUU often has placement cells to assist students in getting jobs in private hospitals, government health departments, NGOs, and even international healthcare organizations.

You can pursue ANM or GNM Course after 12th from Arts or Commerce, but B.Sc. Nursing requires a Science background (PCB – Physics, Chemistry, Biology).
