Expanding Resilience in Climate Change-2024 (ERCC2024)

The symposium will cover various topics related to climate change, starting with an overview of the current global situation and its impacts. It will delve into the specific issues faced by urban areas and the role of civil engineering in mitigating these challenges. Sessions will focus on practical solutions and case studies, highlighting successful initiatives that have been implemented in different parts of the world.

The symposium will also include keynote addresses from renowned experts in the field, providing insights and guidance on effective strategies for climate change mitigation. Additionally, panel discussions and interactive sessions will facilitate engaging conversations and encourage participants to share their ideas and perspectives. One of the key objectives of the symposium is to raise awareness about the urgent need for action on climate change. Uttarakhand has recently witnessed a surge in natural disasters, which can be attributed to the changing climate patterns. The devastating floods, landslides, and extreme weather events have not only caused immense loss of life and property but have also disrupted the region’s socio-economic fabric. We must address these challenges and find ways to create a resilient infrastructure that can withstand the impacts of such disasters. The Department of Civil Engineering at DBUU is committed to promoting sustainable development and inclusive growth. By integrating climate change adaptation strategies into their research and educational programs, the department aims to equip future engineers and researchers with the tools and knowledge necessary to mitigate the risks associated with climate change. Through multi-disciplinary collaborations with experts in related fields, the department plans to develop innovative solutions that can provide effective disaster management measures and enhance the overall resilience of Uttarakhand and Dehradun’s infrastructure and communities.

• To exchange insights on innovative strategies and successful practices in trade policy that could contribute to sustainable development amidst these climate phenomena.
• To determine the obstacles and potential advantages of aligning trade policies and climate action when addressing cloud bursts, receding glaciers, flash flooding, landslides, droughts, and heat islands
